I had to laugh while reading the article on being a dream employee. As someone who has a job in their field I definitely would not do any of those things. The first get to know your manager made me immediately think of mine. Her name is Meg. She hates everyone and spends half of her work day smoking outside. I really got to know Meg when she tried to blame a missing $2,400 on me. I wasn’t a fan then and I’m still not a fan. When mentioning knowing your managers goals I thought Meg’s goal to sit outside and smoke all shift not a goal I would like to help her achieve. In reference to not allowing your manger to be blindsided I know I would personally never help her unless its on the floor and she is being attacked by a patient since that is my job. Now #4 not expecting to be spoon fed. I’ve never done that. I’ve managed whole floors by myself and I would never ask Meg for help. She would just leave me stranded anyway. We don’t have deadlines, but at the end of my shift all of my work is always done. I have also tried throwing out solutions to many of our problems it always goes unnoticed. So, I stopped talking about them. As, far as doing what you say I always do my job and then some. In reference to the other articles I already have a job, so I am pretty adapt on how to get a job, and how to keep one. I am not sure where my journey will go after Haven, but I am not looking at staying there forever, and thankfully I can’t because there are no doctorate programs in this area I am interested in. So, I know I can look forward to a better boss in my future.
